Of course, some gallery apps offer other functions aside from managing photos. OnePlus Gallery is among the gallery apps available in the market today. This multimedia software lets you manage your photos in a clear timeline, and puts your best moments in a collection. With this, you can easily browse through your best shots. More than that, the app offers photo-editing features to enhance the pictures in your collection.

Not quite an alternative

OnePlus Gallery aims to offer users an alternative to Google Photos, which comes pre-loaded on most Android devices. As mentioned, it is an excellent photo viewer with features that an average user is looking for. However, if you browse through its functions, it is evident that the app is not close to becoming a good alternative to Google Photos. 

OnePlus Gallery comes with an interface similar to Google Photos. Both have a tab at the bottom of the screen that houses your options. Google Photos organizes your photos in Albums while OnePlus Gallery saves them in collections. As mentioned, OnePlus Gallery comes with photo editing functions, and so does Google Photos. However, the latter has a photo assistant that makes editing easier. Sure, OnePlus Gallery provides ample tools and effects, but it lacks advanced options, such as collages, animations, and slideshows. 

Overall, OnePlus Gallery still has a long way to go before it can be an option for Android users. Sure, it comes handy when organizing your photos, but it lacks features such as sorting, filtering, and customization. Moreover, some of the functions its offers lags behind that of Google Photos'. But, perhaps the biggest drawback of the app is that it is only compatible with OnePlus devices. So, if you are not using the model, this is not for you.
